Nice town museum I have wanted to see a Sunday House in Fredericksburg and understood that the Pioneer Museum Complex had one, so was happy to tour this complex. In addition to the small Sunday House, we saw an old school, a couple of other houses/businesses and a bath house. Pleasant visit all around, and we enjoyed visiting with the knowledgeable lady in...
OK for an hour The houses were interesting to look around, but there was very little else to see, and the collection of 'artefacts' was very poor. It was OK to pass an hour, but don't expect to be there all day. Note, museum is closed on Mondays.
A good place for kids This museum is inside and outside. I love the outside parts. There are actual person who are all dressed up. They will show you how it was like to live in the past. It was just a really place for kids to learn about the history. And it was fun too!
Great day of interactive history We enjoyed this for several hours with our kids ages 10&11. They enjoyed the hands on exhibits including making real rope which they got to keep, and some homemade campfire biscuits from the chuck wagon cook. Nice preservation of buildings and history from the local area. A great attraction!
Went during spring break, arriving mid-morning before the crowds got too bad.The kids enjoyed making their own rope and eating fresh biscuits. My...
Very nice museum, especially during "Spring Break Very good collection of historical (Texas Pioneer era) buildings and exhibits. We were there during "Spring Break" and there were Living History reenactments going on in several parts of the complex. These were all of an excellent quality and very interactive with the children and adults who were there. A very good visit without too much time or cost involved.
Great demonstration of pioneer life Fredericksburg is a town proud of and rich in German history. The immigrants came from a place filled with troubles and they settled in the Hill Country and flourished. This complex displays typical houses, a barn, blacksmith shop, and volunteer fire department memorabilia. On our visit, there were many volunteers showing how the pioneers went about life- using weapons, rope...
History worth visiting Learning the history of Fredericksburg at this museum is like stepping back in time, worth the cost of admission
Step back into history The ladies who run the gift shop gave us a preview, but the brochure also helped to guide us through the different structures, preserving the pioneer history of Fredericksburg. Excellent collection of historic books for all ages.
